Frequently Asked Questions

What is the HADR Institute and what do you do?

The HADR Institute (HADRI) is an Australian registered charity focused on humanitarian assistance and disaster relief across the Indo-Pacific. We support locally led humanitarian systems, build practitioner capability, and improve information and decision-making in humanitarian and disaster contexts.

Our work is delivered through three programs:

  • Humanitarian Hub Enablement Program (HHEP) — supporting locally led humanitarian hubs and coordination across Myanmar, the Thai-Burma border, and the Pacific Islands (Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands).

  • Principled Action and Accountability Program (PAAP) — humanitarian law and human rights monitoring, protection analysis, and accountability documentation in conflict-affected contexts.

  • Centre for Applied Humanitarian Practice (CAHP) — training, analytical capacity development, and humanitarian intelligence courses for practitioners.

Is HADRI a charity? What is your legal status?

Our governance frameworks are aligned with the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) Code of Conduct. HADRI is currently in the process of applying for full ACFID membership, which will further affirm our commitment to transparency, accountability, and ethical practice.
